The seed treatment process

CORN & SORGHUM SEED TREATMENT OPTIONS

Corn and sorghum crops are most susceptible to serious damage from insects during establishment. In fact, soil insects can be so destructive that at times re-sowing can be necessary.

A good, evenly spaced plant stand is the first step towards a high yielding crop. This is why Pioneer® recommends the use of Betta Strike® and Betta Strike® Plus as seed treatments.

CANOLA SEED TREATMENT OPTIONS

Pioneer® Seeds Australia continues to provide professional application of registered canola seed treatments that help ensure reliable canola establishment and protects the proven genetic potential of Pioneer® brand products.

The Betta Strike® canola seed treatment provides premium fungicide and insecticide product formulations for control of the major diseases and pests of canola acting immediately from seeding and during the seedling stage.

With the addition of a custom option in canola seed treatment, we have expanded the choice to meet preferences and you can now select which one suits your individual requirements. For medium-high pressure black-leg infection areas it is strongly recommended that growers choose the Betta Strike® option and apply flutriafol fungicide in-furrow with fertiliser for the strongest protection.

If custom is the preferred option it is very strongly recommended that it is only used in low-pressure blackleg environments and flutriafol fungicide is also applied in-furrow with fertiliser.

Betta Strike ® and custom options chosen by Pioneer® provide the following benefits - compatible with Integrated Pest Management (IPM) programs, excellent seed safety, strong early vigour and emergence, performance under Australian variable growing conditions, and consistent yield responses. These proven seed protection options provide canola growers even more effective choices to protect the right product on the right acre.

Not all seed treatments are created equal

There are many advantages and benefits of using seed treatments to protect your investment in quality seed, but it’s important to bear in mind that not all seed treatments are created equal. The Pioneer® Betta Strike® application process uses a high-performance continuous flow applicator to apply the right amount of insecticide and fungicide along with proven seed polymers to your seed. The polymer coating locks the seed treatment onto the seed, reducing the risk of flaking and dust formation.

Inferior treatments are unevenly coated and do not stick firmly to the seed. This poses a risk to the planter operator, decreases planter performance and can reduce the effectiveness of insecticides and fungicides.
